This attractive 300-year-old stone-built village pub sits at the heart of the community, perfectly positioned along the Cotswold Way.
In April 2025, we began our own chapter in its long history, proud to continue the story of this much-loved local and preserve its place as a welcoming hub for the village.
The Old Fox Heritage
This charming 300-year-old stone-built village pub, formerly The Fox and Hounds, was refurbished in 2018 following its purchase from Ei Group and is now a welcoming free house.
Inside, guests can enjoy separate drinking and dining areas, a large oak bar with six real ale hand pumps, and a cosy wood-burning stove for colder days.
A traditional pub menu and two attractive garden seating areas are perfect for long sunny afternoons. Community Inns took ownership in 2025, continuing the legacy of this much-loved village pub.

Sainty’s Sweet Shop
Historically, pubs often sold more than just beer. So, in a nod to the past and to ensure we look after the local community, we have created a small 'tuck shop'. Whether you'd like an alternative to a pudding or just a sweet treat with your drink, Sainty's is always open.
Former owner Ellie Sainty was instrumental in creating the Old Fox that people know and love today.
Discover The Cotswold Way
Situated in the pretty village of Coaley, The Fox is surrounded by a beautiful landscape of rolling hills, valleys and pasture. A patchwork of footpaths make it superb walking country, with the Cotswold Way passing close by.
